EDUX 6630 (1, 2, or 3 Units available). In this course, participants will learn about the background and genesis of the standards, discover the relationship between A Framework for K–12 Science Education and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), explore science learning progressions, 3-D learning and instruction, the intentions behind the integration of engineering practices and design in science education, and conclude with approaches to assessment of the three dimensions of science learning with the standards. Through the in-depth readings, video examples, and supplementary resources, the learner will begin implementing ways to use these standards for this revolutionary new mode of teaching science into their classroom, district, or state.
