EDUX 6530 (1, 2, or 3 Units available). This course will introduce learners to the latest research on poverty and how it affects the cognitive development and academic performance of students. In this course, participants will learn how to differentiate among different types of poverty and understand the unique aspects and effects of each; they will learn about the real and physical effects that poverty can have on a developing brain; and they will learn school-wide and classroom-level strategies for countering those negative effects to help their students grow, thrive, and find academic success.
