EDUX 7745 (3 units). In this course, participants will examine practices to help their students read independently and critically. The course introduces strategies that encourage students to develop their knowledge in content areas, select rigorous reading materials, and synthesize information. Participants will summarize and evaluate research on the course topic, actively engage in related activities, and establish future goals for their classroom. During this course, students enhance their instructional practice through applying research-based strategies and reflecting on their learning experiences.
NOTE: Independent Study is an adaptable learning format for teachers to gain university credit as they choose a subject that is of interest to them as well as beneficial for their classroom.
