EDUX 7730 (3 units).
In this course, participants will explore how to reduce math anxiety, teach to different individual learning levels, and engage students in high quality activities aimed at building conceptual understanding as well as computational skills. Course participants will summarize and evaluate research on the course topic, actively engage in related activities, and establish future goals for their classroom. Participants will enhance their instructional practice through applying research-based strategies and reflecting on their learning experiences. This course combines educational theory and practical implementation of effective math instruction.
NOTE: Independent Study is an adaptable learning format for teachers to gain university credit as they choose a subject that is of interest to them as well as beneficial for their classroom.
