In this course, participants learn how to craft instruction that supports students in developing higher level comprehension skills necessary to attain the ambitious levels of the common core standards. Course participants will summarize and evaluate research on the course topic, actively engage in related activities, and establish future goals for their classroom. Participants will enhance their instructional practice through applying research-based strategies and reflecting on their learning experiences. This course combines educational theory and practical implementation of techniques to extend student thinking.
