EDUX 7700: Promoting Self-Advocacy for Students with Special Needs

Course Description

EDUX 7700.

This course investigates ways that teachers can effectively inform, educate, support and empower students with special needs.   Course participants will summarize and evaluate research on the course topic, actively engage in related activities, and establish future goals for their students.  During this course, participants enhance their instructional practice through applying research-based strategies and reflecting on their learning experiences.  This course combines educational theory and practical implementation of strategies for promoting self-advocacy for students with special needs.

NOTE: Independent Study is an adaptable learning format for teachers to gain university credit as they choose a subject that is of interest to them as well as beneficial for their classroom.  If you do not see a topic or course that you would like to do for an Independent Study class, please send us an email at info@collegecreditconnection.com with your topic request and short description.
