July 3 - July 24 Zoom meeting 7/3/24 @ 4:00 These courses will be taught using our Online/Hybrid format. Each course will consist of 45 hours of online learning, contact with the instructor and outside practicum. Students may begin working on a course after requesting the syllabus from the instructor, registering online, and attending the Zoom orientation meeting.


EDUX 5390 (A, B, C, D).  This course will assist classroom teachers to optimize the learning experience for students in the multicultural classroom. It will support educators in a pluralistic society to remain sensitive to the learning needs, personal interests and cultural characteristics of their students. The course further supports classroom teachers in helping them more fully understand the goal of multicultural education in creating educational opportunities that are equal for all students and in helping every child acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to function effectively in a democratic society. 

  

  • Affirm and validate students through multicultural-based bulletin boards, projects, and activities.
  • Learn strategies for varying teaching styles to accommodate  all students.
  • Promote and foster healthy interaction among diverse groups.
  • Develop ideas to infuse the curriculum with multicultural concepts and elements.
  • Improve student sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences.
  • Recognize and correct historical distortions. 

Course Requirements

Information regarding the specific COURSE REQUIREMENTS will be given the first day of class.

GRADING:  Things that affect the student's grade include attendance, promptness, participation in class discussions, quality of work generated, projects completed, and quality of assignments and homework completed.  Active on-task participation is necessary to receive credit.

* Please note that the student may take up to four sections of this same course number designated A, B, C, or D.  There are four levels to this course.  These courses must be taken in sequential order (e.g., "A" must be taken before "B"). When enrolling, students are responsible for knowing the section of the course for which they are eligible.
