EDUX 5280: IMPROVING STUDENT SELF-CONFIDENCE

Course Description

EDUX 5280 (A, B, C, D).  This course will focus on improving student self-esteem in order to create an optimal learning environment. A broad spectrum of confidence-building topics will be discussed, such as: empowering techniques, interpersonal communication, the impact of role-playing and other self-esteem activities that help students make progress in how they self-identify and see others. Focusing on classroom environment, pupil interaction and classroom management through the lens of self-esteem issues can bring positive change to students and improve the learning process. 

  • Identifying the key elements in self-esteem building.

  • ·          Combining hands-on self esteem activities with basic curriculum development.

  •          How to employ positive behavior management techniques.

  • Integrating self-esteem practices into the daily classroom routine.

Course Requirements

·    Defined course meetings, times and attendance policy (specific to each class).

·    GRADING: Things that affect your grade are attendance, promptness, participation in class discussions, quality of work generated, remembering to sign in and out, projects completed, and quality of assignments and homework completed.

·    Active on-task participation is necessary to receive credit. Please put your cell phones on vibrate during class. If an emergency occurs and you need to make or answer a call, please step outside to have your conversation.
