EDUX 7620. This course focuses on how to use multiple resources and instructional strategies to develop English language learners’ academic skills for mastery of subject matter. Students will summarize and evaluate research on the course topic, actively engage in related activities, and establish future goals for their classroom. During this course, students enhance their instructional practice through applying research-based strategies and reflecting on their learning experiences. This course combines educational theory and practical implementation of strategies to meet the needs of English language learners.
NOTE: Independent Research Study is an adaptable learning format for teachers to gain university credit as they choose a subject that is of interest to them as well as beneficial for their classroom. For this format, students select and read a book that is related to the course topic (see specific directions in the course syllabus and assignment templates).
