EDUX 6285: Dimensions of Learning: The Basics

Course Description

EDUX 6285 (1-3 Units available).   This 2nd Edition course is a research-based instructional framework that proposes learning involves a complex system of interactive processes with five types of thinking, each represented by one dimension in Marzano’s Dimensions of Learning model.   In this course, the dimensions will be described and strategies for employing them will be provided through examples and useful planning tools. Participants will discover that each dimension does not function independently of the others. There is a constant flow between and among the dimensions, as students gain knowledge, practice skills, and complete tasks that require complex reasoning. Finally, an explanation of how performance assessment tasks can be designed using the Dimensions of Learning model will be offered, and participants will have the opportunity to tie all the pieces together as they  develop performance tasks for a unit of instruction.
